Video Vocational School

Welcome to our website! Saint John’s Kenyan Outreach serves needy, mentally and physically challenged girls and boys in Subukia, Kenya.  It is a ministry of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Community (OLOL) located in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State.  Many other people are now contributing to this Outreach as well. Father John Gathenya, a native of Kenya, who served as Parochial Vicar of OLOL for almost eight years, introduced the Community to the urgent needs of these children.  The Outreach was officially launched June 27, 2004 in response to the words of Jesus “Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.”  Mt 25:40.   The Catholic Diocese of Nakuru, Kenya and the community of Saint John’s Catholic Church in Subukia, Kenya work diligently to bring about a better life for these precious children and it is an honor and blessing to be able to assist them in their efforts. We have been able to help renovate Saint John's Small Home, the residential home that the children live in while attending school. We have also sponsored the building of Saint John's Vocational Training School for disabled children.  Here the children will learn trades, with which they will be able to become more self- sufficient.   Please feel free to explore our website on your own. Pictures are added as they are received from Kenya and the news is kept up to date.  There are also nice archives of our newsletters, newspaper coverage etc.  Also, check out the timeline of our Outreach under Vocational School.    Thanks SO MUCH for your support in prayers and donations!
